What is a minimum spend?
Minimum spend is the minimum amount required to be spent during your event.
This is not an additional fee — it is simply the amount you’re required to spend across selected items on the night.
What can minimum spend be used for?
Your minimum spend can be allocated toward:
-
Bar drinks (alcoholic & non alcoholic)
-
Drinks packages
-
Grazing tables, platters & bar snacks
-
Styling and hire items
What does minimum spend not include?
Substantial catering (e.g. buffet, banquet-style meals or canapés) does not contribute toward minimum spend.
Do guest-purchased drinks count toward minimum spend?
Yes — any drinks purchased by your guests on the night will contribute toward your minimum spend.
This means you can choose a mix of:
-
Bar tab
-
Drink packages
-
Guests purchasing their own drinks
-
Platters or styling
Example
A $3,000 minimum spend could look like:
-
$2,000 bar tab
-
$1,000 platters
OR
-
$1,500 bar tab
-
$1,000 guest-purchased drinks
-
$500 styling
OR
-
$3,000 bar tab
What if we don’t reach the minimum spend?
If your total spend does not reach the agreed minimum, the remaining balance will still be charged.
For example:
If your minimum spend is $3,000 and you spend $2,000 on the night, the remaining $1,000 will be charged.
What if we go over?
No problem — any spend over your minimum is simply added to your final invoice.
How can we manage spend on the night?
There are a few ways to structure this depending on your preference:
-
Set a bar tab (with or without a limit)
-
Allow guests to purchase their own drinks
-
Use a combination of both
We also recommend using drink tokens, which can be a great way to ensure each guest receives a set number of drinks while keeping your spend controlled.
